Malaysia Melaka Book Village
The Book Village Malaysia Melaka project begun on 9 April 2007 originally initiated by the Melaka State Government but its management was transferred to Hang Tuah Jaya Corporation and was officially opened to public by the Rt. Honourable Datuk Seri Hj Mohd Ali Bin Mohd Rustam, Chief Minister of Melaka on 17 April 2007.
Malaysia Melaka Book Village is the only book village operating in Malaysia and the number 5 operating in Asia and number 33 in the world. The Malaysia Melaka Book Village have take example from other Book Village around the world like Berlin, Norway, and Langkawi. Other than that, Malaysia Melaka Book Village have been recognized by Organisation Of Book Towns (IOB) and Book Town Movement
Book Village formation have collected 15,000 books
around the country for purpose of reading, reference, collecting information and
as guide for community.
